One dayafter New Orleans police booked 24-year-old KeelenArmstrong in the shootingdeath of 1-year-old Londyn Samuels and wounding of her 18-year-old babysitter, a second man was in custody Thursday night, who police believe wasthe gunman, according to NOPD director of public affairs Remi Braden.
Shortlybefore 6 p.m. tonight, authorities arrested 19-year-old Darnell Ramee in a residencein the 2900 block of Paris Avenue,Braden said. Ramee was booked with first-degree murder and attempted first-degreemurder.
Armstrongwas arrested Wednesday morning during a traffic stop when officers discoveredoutstanding warrants and brought him to jail. NOPD detectives were able to determinethat he was a suspect in Londyn's killing and booked him first-degree murderand attempted first-degree murder.
Botharrests come just one week after Londyn Samuels and her caregiver were shotwhile walking in the 2800 block of South Saratoga Street. In a statement SuperintendentRonal Serpas said, "This is phenomenal work done by our Homicidedivision. I can't praise these detectives enough. Detective RobertBarrere, who was the lead in this case, was tenacious, and I had no doubt thathe and our team would wrap up this case. I'm hoping the people of thisneighborhood can rest a bit easier tonight."
