A Tulane student was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday around 11:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Tulane University Police Department.
TUPD said the student was walking west on the 7400 block of Freret Street near Lowerline when he saw a white Camaro or a Trans Am idling near the intersection. The male student crossed Lowerline, the vehicle turned onto Freret behind him and one of the three males in the car got out.
TUPD said the man approached the student, displayed a black handgun and demanded the student's property. The man then fled westbound in the car.
TUPD described the gunman as being 20 to 22 years of age, 5'11" with a thin build and dark complexion. He had a short fade haircut, grey hoodie and possibly a tattoo on right cheek, TUPD said.
The vehicle is described as a white 1980s or 1990s Chevrolet Camaro or Pontiac Trans Am with two black rally-style stripes running from the hood to the rear of the vehicle.
