Oscar Judah Tolmas, a lawyer and homebuilder who loved horse racing, died Monday (Dec. 2). He was 93.

Mr. Tolmas, a lifelong New Orleanian, graduated from Tulane University Law School in 1943. Earlier this year, he was honored as a 70-year member of the Louisiana Bar Association.
He was a naval officer in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Although Mr. Tolmas was an active businessman, his passion was horse racing. A regular at the New Orleans Fair Grounds racetrack for decades, he was a member of the Louisiana Racing Commission for 14 years and was its chairman for four years.
