Bayou Lacombe Middle School students' Organic Garden Farmer's Market Dec. 17 in Lacombe

Bayou Lacombe Middle School’s bi-annual Organic Garden Farmer’s Market will be Dec. 17 from 2 to 6 p.m. at John Davis Park, off Highway 190, Lacombe. Teacher Rebekah Granger Ellis asks the community to come out to support the school's yearlong organic gardening efforts.

This market will feature products the students have made from their garden harvest. "We've been cooking up a storm," said Ellis, the Middle School Gifted Academics and Enrichment teacher at Bayou Lacombe Middle and Chahta-Ima Elementary schools.

Featured products will be: Pickled okra, gumbo veggie mix, strawberry pepper jelly, Mediterranean humus, rosemary pita bread, pesto pasta, herbal pizza and pasta sauce, garden salsa verde, herbal olive tapenade, and chef's blend pesto.

Also available will be student-made birdhouses, herbal teas, herbal soaps, luffa soaps, pumpkin scrub soaps, 'Growums' garden kits, and much more.

"They make perfect Christmas gifts," Ellis said, adding, "The students are offering holiday wrapping."
