In some ways, 2013 was a monumental year for the West Bank. The Crescent City Connection tolls ended after a contentious campaign and two votes on the issue. Mardi Gras returned to Gretna with the resurgence of the Krewe of Grela, but the West Bank's oldest Carnival organization, the Krewe of Alla, bolted for Uptown.
Meanwhile, the bitter debate over a partner for Jefferson Parish's two public hospitals continued, leaving the fate of the institutions unresolved. With federal reimbursements declining and legislation, hospital officials say they need an ally in the rapidly changing health care market.
What do you think were the most noteworthy stories of 2013 on the West Bank? What were residents, politicians and neighborhoods from Algiers to Avondale, Gretna to Grand Isle, Belle Chasse to Buras talking about.
