A federal judge Friday threw out subpoenas delivered to two writers for The New Orleans Advocate this month by a defense attorney seeking notes from a 2012 meeting between the reporters and two FBI agents shortly before a grand jury indicted alleged crime boss Telly Hankton.
Hankton’s attorney, Arthur “Buddy” Lemann, failed to prove in court filings that the notes were relevant, U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman ruled. The judge described Lemann’s request as “vague and overbroad.
