When former City Hall technology vendor Mark St. Pierre went on trial in 2011, his attorney did his best to undermine the testimony of the government’s star witness, Greg Meffert, St. Pierre’s former pal and political patron.
The lawyer, Eddie Castaing, kept Meffert on the stand for a withering cross-examination that lasted a full day. Among other tactics, Castaing used an overhead projector and a highlighter to underscore the many lies Meffert had told while previously under oath before a grand jury and in a civil trial, and asked why jurors should believe him this time.
