A 34-year veteran of the New Orleans Police Department accepted bribes of cash and sex to conceal a “pill mill” operation that distributed narcotics out of two New Orleans-area medical clinics for years, according to a federal indictment unsealed Monday.
The officer, Donald Nides, who was assigned to the federal Drug Enforcement Administration task force, leaked confidential information and offered a “road map” on how the clinics could avoid detection from law enforcement, the indictment says.
