Parishioner backs car into Gentilly church

New Orleans, La. - A parishioner leaving a Gentilly church backed into the structure Sunday, damaging the church and injuring two people, according to New Orleans Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry hardy.

The incident happened just after 11 a.m. following morning services at Asia Baptist Church on Sere Street.

Two people who were inside the church were taken to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known, although witnesses at the scene told FOX 8 that they did not appear to be serious.

The extent of the damage to the church is still being evaluated.
