Two brothers accused of spraying bullets into a Mother’s Day second-line parade last year, injuring 20 though killing no one, now face federal charges in the shooting and the drug-dealing conspiracy that allegedly sparked it, according to a grand jury indictment unsealed Tuesday.

The indictment names nine people, including alleged shooters Akein “Keemy” Scott, 20, and Shawn “Shizzle” Scott, 25, in a heroin and cocaine trafficking conspiracy said to date back more than seven years.

It does not describe the shooting spree itself, only an allegation that the brothers “did knowingly use and carry a firearm during and in relation to a drug-trafficking crime” on May 12.
