Crooked contractor Aaron Bennett, the braggadocious businessman who was caught bribing former Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Jiff Hingle and then helped authorities in their investigation of former Mayor Ray Nagin, was sentenced Wednesday to 15 months in federal prison.
U.S. District Court Judge Stanwood Duval, who handed down the sentence, said Bennett would be given credit for almost eight months he has already served in a local jail. With credit for good behavior, he could be out of prison in about five months.
