French Quarter club owner Levy dies at 89

Dan Levy Jr., a French Quarter restaurant and club owner whose venues featured Al Hirt and Pete Fountain early in their careers, died Monday at his Metairie home after a brief battle with cancer. He was 89.

Levy was born in New Orleans and attended Jesuit High School, the Marion Military Institute and Louisiana State University. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and got a master’s degree from Columbia University in New York.
