NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - It's the seventh annual World Autism Awareness Day, and the Centers for Disease Control says 30 percent more people have a form of the disorder since the last survey was done in 2008.
One New Orleans family hopes sharing their story can encourage others.
"Outside the norm is the norm for our family," said Kelly Fischer. Her family is one of many with an autistic child. The CDC says one in 68 people in the United States has some kind autism.
