Political leaders react to the passing of Lindy Boggs

New Orleans -- Former Rep. Lindy Boggs dies at the age of 97. Boggs passed away Saturday at her home in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

People around the country and those who knew her best say Boggs was a political pioneer, with a heart of gold.

Boggs paved a path for women everywhere. New Orleans City Council President Jackie Clarkson says, "She was the role model for public service not only in Louisiana but in America in my opinion."

Boggs was the first woman from Louisiana to serve in Congress.
