The Progressive Northshore Democrats organization based in St. Tammany Parish has endorsed the controversial lawsuit filed by a south Louisiana levee authority demanding that nearly 100 oil, gas and pipeline companies repair damage they have caused to the state's wetlands. The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - East filed the lawsuit in late July in Civil District Court in New Orleans.
The Northshore Democrats' resolution backing the lawsuit says that a "healthy and vibrant wetlands ecosystem is vital to controlling storm surge and destructive salt water intrusion.
