Lori Mince, a lawyer for John Simerman and Gordon Russell, wrote in a motion to quash filed Wednesday that the subpoenas amount to a “fishing expedition.”
Reporters with The New Orleans Advocate have asked a federal judge to toss subpoenas requiring them to testify at a hearing later this month, saying defendants in a federal gang racketeering case had failed to show the reporters’ testimony was necessary for their defense.
