NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman barely missed winning re-election last month. On Saturday voters will decide whether Gusman will get another term, or if he will be ousted by the man Gusman succeeded in the sheriff's office, Charles Foti.
Both candidates sat down this week to talk about the issues with FOX 8's Sabrina Wilson.
Gusman said a safer, more modern prison complex is occurring under his watch.
"This is not the time to go back, this is a time to go forward, modern correctional practices, direct supervision, these are the kinds of things that we ought to be talking about, not the prison industrial complex that was built by him," Gusman said Thursday during an interview in his office.
