A woman who reportedly paid a man to murder her husband in 2006 was picked up by police last week in Missouri, court records show. Emma Raine, 49, was booked in New Orleans on Aug. 1 on charges of first-degree murder and criminal conspiracy after being extradited from Jackson County earlier in the week.
According to an arrest warrant filed in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court, Raine -- who formally used the last name Smith -- offered money to a man named Alfred Everett to kill her then-husband, 38-year-old Ernest Smith, in April 2006.
